Fourth year (S7) — tourism project
Wisteria residence and lodge
This semester focused on tourism in rural areas. The first phase consisted in mapping the city associated with our transect, for my part, Comblain-au-Pont, located a few kilometers south of Liège in the Walloon region of Belgium. Other groups had to make analysis following different questions and challenges (agriculture, leisure, promenade...). The second phase was then based on the design of a project related to the stakes highlighted during the previous phase. We could choose the program and the implantation site but it had to be justified according to these territorial tourist stakes.
Transect analysis
To map our area, we made different documents regrouping the projects created during the previous year of this studio in order to subsequently be able to complete them. For that, I chose to make an axonometry and a map of the entire territory as well as sections of our two transects of study for this semester.

Rehabilitation project
The choice of the project of an inter-generational and participative residential complex and tourist lodge was justified by the aging population of the region but also by the lack of tourist infrastructures despite the city's strategic position in a hiking trails network.
The whole project is based on the idea of connecting people while preserving the heritage of the city. Therefore, this complex accommodates housing for the elderly in a new building made of wood with an opened distribution and exterior individual spaces. As well as, by rehabilitating the old building of the cinema which is very important to the city's heritage, a lodging with common lounge spaces and a shop. This local shop is supplied by a collective vegetable garden and workshops open to all in order to create connections and exchanges between residents, tourists and villagers.
