Third year (S6) — case study
Super L / case study
An analysis of a case study of collective housing : the “Super L” project of 160 housing units in Eysines, France by Bruther (not completed, project made in 2013). The main goal of this case study was to learn how to analyze a project, its architectural intentions and structure, while being able to report on this study through different documents and a presentation.
Analysis of the project
This project is based on a continuous strip on stilts with double facade. A study of the typologies, partitions, circulations, the program and the architecture as well as of its main principles, was carried out and reported through axonometries, plans, sections and facades. It allowed me to decompose the project according to different studies such as structure, circulation, typologies, distributions, accesses, design, materials...

Axonometry of the constructive logic of a duplex
Axonometry of a top-floor triplex

Main facade showing the decomposition of the double skin system

Fragmented axonometry of the different typologies
Wooden model
As the conclusion of this analysis, we had to produce a manipulable model, at scale 1:100, of a part of the building (half of it as it is symetrical) illustrating the highlighted main principles and the result of the study.
This model can be manipulated by removing each floor as well as the curtain facade. In plan, the floors were gradually incorporated to the model to make visible the standard plans of the apartments.
